As I read the manual, etc. on ProDiscover I found a couple of places where it describes how the number of files/selected files (or something like that) will be displayed on the status bar.  This is the equivalent of the EnCase Dixon box.A very handy tool.

Unfortunately, the status bar of my copy only displays For Help press F1. or the currently processing file.
Is there a magic button to give me a file count?

    Jerry,

Thanks for posting to the forums. It sounds like you found a typo in the manual. For file count, list of selected files, and other important information you can review the report. ProDiscover automatically provides the file path, hash value, ACL data, etc. whan a file is selected as Evidence of Interest. I believe you find the information you are looking for in the report.

Again, thanks for posting the forums and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Alex,
Thanks for the clarification.  When I check the report all I seem to find is the number of files selected as evidentiary or of interest.  I think a count of the number of files that are currently in the queue for processing would be very handy.  I have run searches on "Selected files only" that when I hit go, it is obvious that the program thinks I selected everything.  Especially, when running on a network, this makes for very slow searches.

So here's a suggestion for the next update. Put a Dixon box in the status bar.  It should at least show the number of files currently selected in the work area, or if nothing is selected, the number of total files/folders. It would save a lot of time if I get ready to run a search and notice that there are currently 43,000,000 files in the work area that will be searched.  (Don't call it a Dixon box.  The EnCase folks will probably get very upset)

After a day or two, I can figure out how to push F1 for help.
    Happy Monday, everyone,
    Jerry
