  • Problems with display of IR v6.0 on laptop

I just installed IR v.6.0 on a laptop with a Nvidia 8600m GT video card and it is not displaying correctly.  When I open IR all that is displayed is a few icons on the left frame.  The descriptions of the icons and the table view on the right will not display.  Also the when i open a new case the name and enter the identifying information, the info. is not displayed.  Any suggestions to fix the problem.

    Cdphili,
I too had issues with the same video card on a Sony Vaio Z790 running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. While Nvidia had the updated drivers, they were not compatible with the Sony notebook. It took until the official release of Windows 7 and some help from the folks at http://www.notebookforums.com to get my drivers up to date, but once they were updated, all known issues were corrected. The Nvidia card you mention is the only card we have run across that exhibits issues with ProDiscover.

Please identify if you are using the most up to date video driver for your operating system from the Nvidia web site. If you are and still have issues, please let us know which make/model computer you are using and the installed operating system, so we can look into the issue.

Yes I installed the current drives from Nvidia's web site and it did not make a difference.  I also went to the OEM web site to determine if they had a more current version or a recommended version.  I down loaded their version but it was an older version than Nvidia.  Neither driver made a difference.  The laptop is a Digital Intelligence Fred L.  The OS is Windows XP professional, service pack 2.  I plan on updating to SP 3 to determine if that makes a difference.  Thanks for the help.

    cdphilli,

Thanks for the additional information. I’m suppressed to see you having difficulties with the Nvidia driver on XP. We have been running on that OS without issue for some time as you might expect. I do know that that specific Nvidia card has been problematic for people in other areas, but not with us. My specific problem was related to Windows 7 64 bit and the mobile chip set.

You may also consider downgrading the video driver, or trying the MS default driver distribution for that card. I found that before I eventually got the release Windows 7 driver on my system that I could eliminate any video issues by switching the notebooks performance switch to “Stamina” mode rather than “Performance” mode. I only lucked across that solution.
