We (with the help of a customer) found an issue today where if you try to load an E01 image from Write-Only media ProDiscover will crash. The issue is caused because we create a temp file (EWFImageInfo.txt) in the same location as the image. So, if you are using a CD/DVD, or the image is marked read-only then this will cause the issue.
Today we have changed our logic for temp file location to place the temp file in our standard temp folder rather than the image location so this does not happen in the future. The fix will roll out in the next update. Until the update is available use a writeable image source location and ensue the image is also not marked read only. And, no we will not write to the image.
