Thanks for using the forums. By definition, it is possible to do data carving in ProDiscover Basic however, it would be a very manual process. You would need to conduct a Cluster Search for a file header. And, search in unallocated space only. If any files were found navigate to cluster view and highlight the corresponding clusters. Then right click the highlighted cluster and select recover to extract the files found.
As you can see it's possible but a very manual process.
