    Hi,

I am tryiing to install ProDiscover Basic on a Windows 98SE system.  The install went OK until I tried to open the program.  I got the following:

    1. Error Starting Program/The Prodiscoverbasic exe file is linked to missing export ADVAPI32.DLL: ConverSidToStringSidA

    2. E:\ProgramFiles\TechnologyPathways\ProDiscover\ProDiscoverBasic.exe
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I had to do some repartitioning to fit this program on my system. E drive is a FAT32 formated local disk I created with PartionMagic.

Any ideas?  Think I should have tried to squeeze it on C drive?

    thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

Thanks for posting to the forums. We support Windows 2000 and above for installing ProDiscover and for conducting investigations with ProDiscover.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for responding.  Why does Prodiscoverbasic site say it runs under Win98SE?  Or, are you saying that THIS forum doesn't deal with Win98SE install issues?  If so, is there a forum that does?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Curio50,

Originally we did support Windows 98SE however after Microsoft dropped support for the platform it became harder for us to support.  We had to drop support for SE to enable us to better support more current platforms. We just haven’t cleaned up all the old information. I apologize for any confusion.
