    Hi.
I installed Prodiscover Basic Edition ver 5.0 but on the first run shows the error "Failed to load the language DLL" and the program ends.
I tested PD under Win XP Pro SP2 and Win 2000 Pro SP4 with the same results.
The involved DLL seems to be clbcatq.dll
    I hope this helps.

    Tom,

Firstly, thanks for trying out ProDiscover Basic 5. The two current language dll’s needed for ProDiscover 5 are ProDiscoverCHT.dll and ProDiscoverJPN.dll. Can you check to make sure they are in the install directory? Also, if you could send a screenshot of your error it may be helpful. We are checking into your report.

ToM, Thanks for posting to the forums and I apologize for the inconvienence. Can you send the screen shot to support (at) techpathways DOT com?

Also, do you have any interesting or non-typical hardware connected to this computer? Gaming keyboards, home brew gear, etc?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Alex

    I understand why Prodiscover Basic v 5.0 doesn't work.
My OS is set to Italian language, so the relative format numbers and
other settings prevent PD basic 5 to run.
So, in order to run Prodiscover Basic 5.0, is necessary to select
"English" at the item located in Panel Control-> Regional and Language
options -> Regional Options tab -> "select an item to match..."
    Have a good day!

    Got the same problem.

It is very unfortunate that a Forensics tool fails to install and run properly.

    Hi,

I tried to deinstall the application and couldn't. So I removed the USB drive and network drive and this allowed me to deinstall the application. May be the installation might work this way i.e. removing all external drives and then try to clean install. My OS is in German but as it already costed me some time so i might try installing it again at some point. If I did so I will report but apparently ProDiscover is installing dlls at a place where it cannot be found.

It could be also if by default Prodiscover saves teh files in C:\ although your OS is installed on D:\, but i don't think this is the problem as I can't imagine that a Forensics app could be so naive.

    Kind Regard

    Khna

    Hi,

I use ProDiscover in my forensic classes at our University. One of the students is having an issue installing both the 5.0 demo and the 4.9 demo. From what I have read, he may have better luck trying to stick with the 5.0.  He is running Vista 64 bit. The installation error message he is getting is:

Unable to save file C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{68633400-D31C...Basic5.msi. The system cannot find the path specified.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks.

    DBarrett,

Thanks for using ProDiscover Basic and for contacting us via the forums. Installing ProDiscover onto Vista (64 Bit) has worked very well in our testing. Please try saving the download to another location such as the desktop. Also, I would suggest reviewing folder and file permissions on all directories.
